I'm admittedly not the most politically schooled, so if I'm misunderstanding the headline here my apologies. What a bizarre thing to read today. Hope he wins!

Safe Conservative seat at last election with over 50% of the vote, Labour in third place. So Labour haven't exactly given Dave a shoo-in. Then again, polls looking as they are, who knows? The Right Honourable Dave Rowntree MP, imagine that. Unlikely though.

Not exactly great for Blur's prospects though, is it, if Dave is staring down at a desk of constituency paper work for the next five years?...

Hang on – how did I forget, he's stood before, hasn't he? Just checked, 2010.

A couple of weeks to go before the election and Dave has clinched, wait for it, drum roll... Fergal Sharkey's backing to become and MP. :? Musical / political love-in with that bloke from Gomez standing too.

Results in:

1. Alison Bennet (Lib Dem) - 39.6%
2. Kristy Adams (Conservative) - 27.1%
3. Dave Rowntree (Labour) - 17.6%
4. Gary Johnson (Reform) - 11.1%
5. Deanna Nicholson (Green) - 3.8%

Second defeat for Dave in a general election after he also lost in 2010 running in London and Westminster.

Not surprising for Dave I’m sure, given the history of the seat.
