Can anyone enlighten me? I'm not too au fait with Coachella generally. What is it with crowds there? I know it has a bit of a reputation for not always being the easiest to whip up an enthusiastic response. Just all too cool for school or is it more of a British band thing being harder to get the crowd on side?

Clearly Damon finding it hard work the other night.

'Won't be seeing us again, so you might as well fucking sing it.' Haha. Good on you, Damon.

When you think how the crowd at Wembley were as one with the band on those two nights last summer. I know, home crowd, Blur gig not festival blah, blah... but how deflating it must be as a band or a front man in particular to be giving it your all and getting sod all back.

The new graphics / visual direction for Coachella surely means more dates

That's a very good point. They would just roll out the 2023 visuals if not, surely?

Can we hope for more yet in 2024? ...

Young, trendy crowd + lots of people camping out at the main stage for the headliner.

Gorillaz got a lot of that last year as I think everyone heard. Tons of their crowd was just waiting for Badbunny.

I wouldn't be so sure. Quite a few artists that make whole productions just for Coachella these days. Damon really sounded like he was done with Blur in the KROQ interview (I know he doesn't have a great track record on that topic).

Anybody catch up on this week’s set yet? Been busy all day but sounds like a little more of a positive experience for band and crowd?

The oft-said ‘probably our last gig’ stuff from Damon. You never know, it’s been said so many times and I’m sure it’s sincere every time in the moment. But hopefully stars will align again at some point to ensure this is not the end. Somehow, and I could be very, very wrong, I can’t see the venue for Blur’s last ever performance being flung out on the west coast of America. Surely Blighty, maybe even if not any time soon, would feel more like an end they deserve if an end must come. Memories of Wembley.

Much better performance weekend 2, probably on account of Damon not being totally wasted.

I kind of believe him on the "this is the last time" thing. I know it's been said many times, but I think based off of interviews Damon is really done with Blur this time. He doesn't seem interested in continuing at all. Every time they've reunited since 2009 was for the purpose of achieving a specific live goal: Hyde Park, olympics, Wembley etc. Hard to see what more they have to achieve.

I don’t know, there’s a ridiculously paternal part of me that kind of would like to see them end if it saves them getting totally rat arsed on stage. Not good for them any more, and I say that as someone who isn’t that much younger than them. I want them to stay happy and healthy above all else!

You’re probably right but who knows, opportunities present themselves. Would be some way into the future though it seems, for any appetite to be there.

Didn't we all think Blur was pretty much over until just over a year ago?! I think there's no way of knowing really (until the inevitable happens to one of them at some point). I think Damon seems to have some kind of pre-programmed attitude to make these kind of statements at the end of every Blur reunion/campaign. Maybe to stop people talking and asking about Blur so they'll focus on his next project and give that the attention he thinks it deserves.

Saying all that though, if we're now looking at the kind of gaps between Blur projects as we saw between TMW and TBOD, maybe it really is the end!

A gap as per TMW to TBOD and Damon will be 64.
